Just for fun . . . We are camping off-grid and our supplies have run low. I’ll put a picture of everything we have left. We have a stove and an oven available. We could run the generator to use the microwave, but it burns a lot of propane and we are on our second tank. Also, we try to conserve cooking dishes. Can you guess what we cooked for supper? What would you have chosen?
Thanks for playing along. Others of you weighed in on Facebook. So here's what happened: Doug cooked the broccoli in the same pan with the biscuits. He made the sausage gravy and added the black olives, which worked really well -- those little nuggets of salt and toothsome goodness were a great stand-in for sausage.
I would have roasted the broccoli/beets with the olives and olive oil and had a side of peanut butter and raisins on the cornbread (if it was gluten free) or a side of mash and cup of Christmas Tea.
I can't see what kind of soup is in the two cans on the left. But if it's something like a chunky beef or vegetable soup I might have served that on mashed potatoes. Or maybe on the biscuits or cornbread. But the mashed potatoes are easier and don't require anything more than heating water so that would be my choice.
Hi guys, I would have added the peas and carrots to the chicken noodle soup and then added the Idaho potato flakes to make it nice and thick. Then you could serve it by itself or over the biscuits. I didn't even see that you had black olives but those would be great chopped with broccoli in the biscuits.
