Lots of imagery to muse over..... This may be why the word of God came to John in the wilderness - there would be no distractions or any possible way to miss it. Dang; that would have been a great addition to my sermon three weeks ago! Oh well, not the last time wilderness will pop up in the lectionary cycle.
I like the modern definition of wilderness where humanity is a visitor. If you are a good visitor, the wilderness will be a welcoming place. Thanks for the morning musings!
